About
the Alabama Center for the Book
The Alabama Center for the Book was established
in 2001 as the state affiliate of the Center for the
Book in the Library
of Congress. Headquarters and staff are at the Caroline
Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities
in the College of
Liberal Arts at Auburn
University.
Mission
The Alabama Center for the Book is a partnership of
individuals, agencies, and organizations that love and
support books and reading in Alabama. ACFTB encourages
reading, writing, and the study of books in a wide range
of ways and venues. It sponsors public programming and
disseminates book-, literacy-, and reading-related information.
The ACFTB also highlights Alabama’s literary culture
and heritage and, as an affiliate of the Center for
the Book in the Library of Congress, promotes national
initiatives on books and reading.
Partners of the ACFTB include
the Alabama
Public Library Service and all Alabama public libraries,
the Alabama
Writers’ Forum, and the Alabama
Reading Association.
